Here is a list of six dog friendly destinations in New York:
Lake George Beach State Park
Located in Lake George’s Southern basin, Lake George Beach State Park runs through the southeast base of the Adirondack Mountains. With a length of 32 miles, the lake is full of swimmers and boaters alike, and there is a dedicated spot that invites dogs to swim with their owners.
Wegmans Good Dog Park
Situated in the Cold Springs area of Onondaga Lake Park, this is the first park of its kind in Central New York. The large fenced in area permits your dog to run free without a leash, and plenty of dog friendly exercise equipment is provided, along with benches for the humans to rest on.
It is not uncommon to observe dogs eating dinner with their humans in the friendly area of the Adirondacks village. Most shops, hotels, and restaurants welcome your pet to experience the fun and excitement throughout the area. There are even plenty of trails for exercise with your furry companion.
If you want to offer your pal some play time and canine socialization, then you shouldn’t have a problem locating a dog park in this area. Saratoga Springs provides a variety of dog parks throughout Saratoga, Clifton Park, Ballston Spa, and Niskayuna. Your pet will be able to run free, and some parks are even located indoors for some rainy-day exercise.
Jamesville Beach Park
At the Jamesville Beach Park, you can enjoy 100 yards of waterfront for swimming and rafting. You can enjoy a day on the water in a kayak, play some sports on one of the fields, and even plan a private party. Your dog can join you throughout certain areas of the park when on a leash, and there is an off-leash area that is designed for your companion to have some of his own fun as well.
New York State Parks
If you are planning to have some fun at one of the many Upstate parks, your best buddy will probably be welcome to join you, providing you hold your pal on a 6-foot leash.
Keep in mind, there are always rules in place that you should be aware of before you set out on your journey. Many places have specified areas for your companion, while others will allow your pet to walk alongside of you no matter where you go.
Be sure your pet is current with all vaccinations, keep him or her on a leash, and always remember to carry water and treats. Follow the rules and clean up after your pet properly.
With all these in mind, you and your furry friend will be on the road to a new adventure in no time.
